Monitor Type I System w/ Type II Radio

Ok....this could certainly be the dumbest question ever asked on these forums - is it possible to monitor a Type I system, with a Type II radio?
Looking back at a number of tools, spreadsheets, converters (no longer available) and related discussion on monitoring Type II on a Type I radio, I am led to believe that it might be (mathematically) possible.
I have fleetmap and specific fleet/subfleet info for the Type I system.
