What radio service is it for? I've read in many places FCC enforcement is almost non-existant unless it involves public safety or broadcast services. Most other services can take upwards of 1 year+ for any action to take place.

They'll most likely tell you to gather as much information (frequency, times of transmissions, what was said), and maybe the'll come out and check on it.

So if you don't have that information, get it before you submit a complaint.

Taken from FCC web site:

Electronically:

If you have a telephone complaint, you can file on line through our Internet site at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html.

E-Mail:

You can send us a complaint through fccinfo@fcc.gov

Mail:

Written complaints can be sent to:
Federal Communications Commission
Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau
Consumer Complaints
445 12th Street, SW
Washington, D.C. 20554

Fax:

Complaints can be faxed to us at: 202-418-0232
Phone: Toll Free: 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice, 1-888-TELL- FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY. Our Consumer and Mediation Specialists are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET

This is for a GMRS pirate, I've already got a running log going on this
guy, now it's time to send this info off to the FCC

Who is the person you're reporting? I've been watching a thread on Popular Wireless discussion board (http://www.popularwireless.com/ubb/Foru ... 00380.html) about a repeater jammer in the Nashua area. If this is the same person, you're not the only one reporting it.

Unfortunately, the FCC takes it's sweet time with GMRS and other issues unless it's your system that is having interference problems. Then, you have about a 25% chance of them returning your phone call. I've heard them consider GMRS "one step above CB" and most of us know what a s**thole CB is most of the time (Although I can't complain about it too much, I started my radio hobby thre). The FCC is only out to take care of the public if they see it benefits them in some way. Other than that, it seems like they are mostly controlled by big companies (can we say Nexthell?)

It's very sad, but true.

You may have a chance since other people are complaining about it also. But remember, you will have a better chance if you're licenced and have interference issues with your system.

Oh, btw, wasn't our buddy who tries to rip us off live in that area? Wasn't he a repeater jammer? Could this be the same guy? If it is, he was interfering with public safety communications.

No, this is not the same guy. The guy that was looking for XTS and
NH network ID's has also posted on the Long Island Scanning Resource
message board looking for the same info there.

The guy I'm referring to has been on GMRS jamming repeaters,
leaving his radio keyed for up to 20 minutes at a time with music
playing in the background, and various other antics. And to the
person who asked if I'm doing this because I'm a ham....well, I'm
also a licensed GMRS user, so this is having a direct affect on mine
as well as other GMRS users here in the Nashua area!!

YOU KNOW WHAT EVERYONE

Let the person exercise his RIGHT to contact the FCC upon this manner. I mean for Christ's sake, you all are flaming this person like they are doing the WRONG thing. Him being a HAM is not relevant at ALL.

As for everyone else, he only asked for the fax number. I mean come on, all you have to do is type the number. They were being polite and asking for help (As to what this board is about), and not to be told to leave it alone, or it could be the "Mysterious Scammer Person". I'm sure there is more than 1 person in that area.

If they want to contact the FCC, don't ask them what for (as it could be none of your business unless they posted it along with the request for information), and if you want to, post the phone number.

Astro_Saber: That was your opinion, or "heresay".
r0f: How do you know that he's playing radio police? All he has is a LOG to send to the FCC. Being a ham or not, people already KNOW not to transmit where they don't belong.

As to everyone else, there is some of you who are obsessed with trying to play police on your own with these scammer people. "No offense, but playing internet police is kinda lame, maybe you should just turn it over to the police.....You know, that's what they're there for."

Just leave him alone, and let him do what he wants. We are not his parents.

Enough Said.

The only reason I asked what it was for was to steer him in the right direction. I was not trying to get him to not report what he wants to, I was letting him know that it may take a while for the FCC to respond to certain situations. He didn't have to post what it was for if he didn't want to.

I also reffered him to where other people were making the same complaint. What's so bad about that?
