Need Saber I help

Post by EM-01 »

Hello All.

I neep help with a Saber I H43QXN7139CN Vhf. With a fully charged battery it only transmits a few watts and just sitting idle it will drain the battery in a short time, 30 mins or so.

Could someone give me some more insight on what particular module might be bad, or if it;s a motherboard problem. I have inspected the modules for a loose fit etc. They all seem fine.

I just can't seem to pinpoint the problem.

Thanks

Probably a bad Power amplifier module. I've seen this before.
Does the side of the radio get really warm?

If that is a good battery and it is discharging that fast. that power has to
be going somewhere.
Feel the radio on the oposite side from the push to talk button. I bet it's
getting pretty warm.
Your power output module probably has a short in it.
Time to look for another one.

Has the radio ever been apart?? Is it a factory radio or one someone parted together?? Take it apart and make sure the PA module is inserted properly and that noe of the pins are bent and not inserted. What you have describe sounds like either a bad PA or one of the PA pins is bent and not inserted.
