Problem Reading 110 watt Spectra VHF Trunk

Post by chezelle »

Hello,

I got a 110 watt trunk mounted VHF Spectra and can't get the RSS to read it. It tries to read it a short while then I get error 81 "Can't access ext Security Housing". Anyway to get around this to get into it to turn the securenet off? Also this unit is supposed to have an A9 head but I was trying to read it with an A7 because thats all I have right now. That wouldn't happen to cause that error would it?

Thanks,
Brian

Sounds like a old goverment surplus radio that still requires the SIU, they were all HHCH radios (A3.)

You have to have the A9 head AND the security housing connected to be able to read the radio's code plug.
