Maxtrac read/prog problems...

Post by ve2cnl »

Hello guy's.

I just buy two radios, one maxtrac and radius, and the two radios have the same model number (bizarre), the mdl is AX D35LRA5GB6Bk, and I tryed many times to read the radios with many software, but I dont have a very good results...

My first question: For what my softwares (rad or max) don't work, lab version pr ftr... ???

Second, If one of you have a GOOD solution to resolve (a saved codeplug or whatever) this will be VERY very appreciated...

The mdl number of these radios is D35LRA5GB6Bk, is a 800mhz trunked when I purchase....

Thanks a lot in advance...

Best regards from VE2CNL Dominique (Quebec, Canada)

I remember that the TRUNKING radios take a software of there own. The RADMBL and MAXTRAC RSS only covers conventional 800 radios.

HI:

Will is correct, the Model number you have
is for a 800 Mhz Maxtrac.

It also requires 800 Mhz Maxtrac Software
( Ver 5.00.00 ) or higher is advised

Also, for VHF, LB, UHF Conventional Maxtracs
or Radius Mobiles require their respective Software

My two units have the same mdl number (D35LRA5Gb6BK), and one init is a MAXTRAC the other is a RADIUS, and i see in a couple of softwares the LRA in the mdl number is for a RADIUS, anyway, I blanked the board with a lab RSS and I try to recover with an archive...

Thanks a lot,

Dom.

Older Maxtrac model number third digit is the letter M. For Radius, its an L.

LabRSS, as I recall, has all. Maxtrac conventional, trunking, and has Radius too, at least the choice is there if the logic board is being replaced.
So, would assume it can create an appropriate Radius model number.

Per info elsewhere on this site, the radios are darned near identical, except for the front covers and volume control knobs.

I wonder if the conventional software is the same FVN4019A?

If those radios are trunked models - and the 5GB6 part of the model number suggests that they are - then they will have trunking firmware. You can blank the board but you won't be able to successfully create a conventional radio without the appropriate firmware.

BTW - the FVN4019A is for 900 conventional ONLY.

Yup. I learned my lesson the hard way. Tried the FVN4019A firmware I had in an Maxtrac 800, and boy did I get some funny frequencies.

I think all but the 900s use the HLN9277 conventional firmware, if I'm not mistaken.

Probably cause the receive IF is different on the 900s.
