Remote mount UHF conventional options?

Post by sailor »

Howdy,

I'm wondering what is available in the way of remote mount UHF radio. Looking for minimum 16 Channel 450-470 (better if it goes into ham band too). I don't need anything fancy or more than 25watts for this requirement. What models might fit the bill?

CDM

Older maxtracs if you can find the remote kit.

CDM is current product and you have a myriad of options for power, amount of channels, display, etc.

Being that this is a Moto board I would guess that you are asking about them but if your open to others..
I have a Kenwood TK-8180 remote mount that is great and in the past have used the Tk-690/790/890 was will. I like both over the CDM remote. I wish /\/\ would make their CM300 in a remote but there not going to.

You forgot XTL2500s, PM1500s, XTL5000s, TK-5810s, and a number of Vertex, Standard, and Icom radios also.

Thanks guys,

Not 100% familiar with some of these, so I'll do some reading and see what might fit the bill.

Thanks!

CDM remotes are a pain, and it doesn't sound like you need an XTL or TK-5810. Look at the TK-8180K... 30 watts, 512 channels, remote mount kit is cheap, and you can buy the whole thing brand new for sub-$600. If you want P25, they have an identical radio with P25 added in for about $500 more.
