WTF with this battery?
Hey all,
I recently picked up a new aftermarket hi-cap battery for my HT1250 at a local hamfest. When I got home it wouldn't fit in my charger... As evidenced in the pic, the aftermarket battery (on the left) has contacts that are not in the same position as the OEM Moto battery on the right... Interestingly though it fits in my charger for my EFJ 5100, which takes an XTS3000 battery (NTN8923). This leaves me wondering, WTF? Is there an actual Moto battery that looks like this, or did the battery maker (W&W) mess up?
Thanks!

The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

What is the W&W part#.
I wonder it is a XTS1500/2500 battery. Same look and feel as a HT750/1250 battery, but fits in a XTS3000/HT1000 charger.

WWN-NTN9815A... Sure enough, that's what it is. Of course, I saw a listing for it under HT1250, and didn't bother to check elsewhere...RFguy wrote:What is the W&W part#.

The battery on the left is a XTS2500/XTS1500/MT1500/PR1500 Astro 25 Series portable battery.I can tell by the battery contact on the back being higher than the lower ones on the HT1250 Waris battery which is the one on the right in the pic.
Also, the dead giveaway when you said it fits your EF Johnson 5100 battery charger which also uses the XTS3000 battery.

NTN9815 also comes up as battery for the XTS2500 Astro 25 series battery.

Re: WTF with this battery?
So.. if I get an OEM NTN9815 I can charge it in my Saber/Jedi/XTS WPLN4114 Impres chargers and not need to keep a separate Waris charger around?
Out of the other XTS2500 batteries, which others are compatible with Jedi/XTS chargers?

Re: WTF with this battery?
For the Waris portables, the only battery you HAVE to have that fits a Waris charger is the RED programming battery for the HT1550XLS. Otherwise, ANY XTS battery will fit a Waris radio, and (almost) any Waris battery will work on the XTS.

Re: WTF with this battery?
Yeah, I knew that Waris batteries were interchangeable with the XTS2500. What I'd like to know is what OEM batteries made for the XTS2500 will fit in a Jedi/XTS(3000/5000) charger. I'm considering picking up a 2500 but I really don't want to have to keep a separate set of chargers around just for it.
Re: WTF with this battery?
ALL XTS batteries will fit a Jedi, HT1000 charger.
What you should NOT do, is charge an Impres battery in anything BUT an Impres charger.
