MX300 Rubber Replacement

Post by njh621 »

Need help on replacing two rubber parts on a few of my MX300 series radios. First off, how do I go about replacing the rubber PTT button? Second, any idea how to replace the round rubber piece in the center of the accessory connector? On nearly all of my radios, that center rubber piece has turned into an oily rubber gunk. Any idea where I can find replacement parts? Thanks!

You could find another frame that has the parts needed or a complete frame.

Rubber PTT is still available as part. Something about $20 for 5 pk.

It wouldn't surprise me the basic little things are still available. There are a *LOT* of these things still in service in various places.

I would question the quality of the parts though, how long have they been sitting on M's shelf?

Glad to see replacement parts are still available. Exactly how do these PTT buttons pry off the MX300? I tried popping one off with a very, very tiny flat screw driver and ended up breaking it (DOH!). As far as the little rubber disc inside the accessory connector recess on the radio, apparently it covers up some kind of pin that isn't used(?). I don't think the absence of the disc should cause any significant concern, I was just worried about water getting inside through that opening.

I think that pin is used to enable the usage of the shoulder mike. GARY N4KVE
