XTL series M5 and or O5 control head mounting bracket part #

Post by Jim202 »

In all the manuals I have, I have been unable to locate a valid current part number for an M5 or O5 remote mounting
control head bracket. I have one part number of 0764460H01, but that doesn't seem to be a valid number per MOL
verification.

Anyone have any numbers that work? How about the flat screw in knobs for securing the head to the bracket?

Try HKN6186. I would think that that comes with screws to mount the trunnion and thumbscrews for the head, but you'd have to call parts ID to confirm.

Think that is the front mount package bracket used to hold the entire radio and control head.

HKN6186A is the # right in front of me.

Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

OK, thanks I will try obtaining one. It's just that all the service manuals I have show that bracket as the wide bracket with the plastic insert that holds the front mount radio itself. The manuals don't show just a trunk mounted radio with the control head only bracket.

What publication numbers are you looking at?
HLN6947E - O5 Installation manual
6871769L01-A - O5 basic service manual
6816879H01-A - O5 control head service manual
6881096C73-B - XTL5000 basic service manual
6881096C74-B - XTL5000 detailed service manual
6881096C72-B - XTL5000 installation manual

All these manuals do not have the part number for a trunk mount radio with the control head dash mount bracket
(trunnion). The only part number they show is for the mid power front mount radio bracket. The part number use
to be 0764460H01, but this number is no longer a valid number.

HLN6947E - O5 Installation manual
The trunnion, though referenced by name and diagram, does not appear to be listed by part number in this manual.
6871769L01-A - O5 basic service manual
This manual shows as the XTL5000 BSM covering the newer Odyssey heads. The O5 remote head mounting trunnion is referenced numerous times in the Model Number charts, with the O5 section starting on page XLII, as "HKN6186_ Trunnion, Control Head Remote Mount".
6816879H01-A - O5 control head service manual
The trunnion does not appear to be referneced at all, however since this is the SM for the control head itself, I'm not surprised.
6881096C73-B - XTL5000 basic service manual
6881096C74-B - XTL5000 detailed service manual
6881096C72-B - XTL5000 installation manual
The preceeding manuals are older, and cover the W series heads only, therefore they would not include any information about the Odyssey series heads, mounting or otherwise.

You should obtain the current service manuals from Mototola before proceeding further.

Not trying to be a pain, but the manuals that I have listed above are the current manuals listed under the
ASTRO XTL5000. If you know where on the MOL site there are more current manuals, please let us know.

I am not disputing that the "TRUNNION" bracket is listed numerous times. However, I keep trying to point out
that the diagrams keep showing the bracket as the one that supports the radio, not just the control head. If
you have a page and manual that can identify just the control head bracket, please provide it so I can look it up.

This was never a production part number, it's internal only and stamped on the brackets themselves. The correct part number for the O5 remote control head bracket is HKN6186.

There is any other bracket available for remotely installed M5 Control Head? HKN6186 is very tall, about 2.5". Sometimes it's not convenient.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.
