M1225 programming from wide band to narrow band ?

Post by Satelite »

Hello:
Have some M1225 uhf 40 watt mobiles coming in for programming from 25 khz wide band to 12.5 khz narrow band.
Poking around in the program i see the option to select 25 kz or 12.5 khz .
Obviously i would need to select the 12.5 khz option to do narrow band.
Is it that simple to change the radio from wide band to narrow band ?
Or do you also need to set other levels ect ?
And if so what other settings need to be changed ?
The radios are currently operating at wide band specs with a valid license .
Thank You

Just turn the compandering "X-PAND" off, unless you have all 1225's. Sounds like A$$!

Motorola's intent in calling the radio a 1225 was to indicate that it was a WB/NB unit.
At least that's what someone posted on this Board a while back.

Hello :
Yes the M1225 is in fact both wide band or narrow band .
I was curious as to if selecting the 12.5 narrow band box rather than
the 25.0 wide band box during programming was all that was needed to change the radio to narrow band .
Or was there further settings or tuning needed to make the radio do narrow band to make it legal for narrow band operation ?
As i understood it that was the only thing needed done per programming .
Thanx satelite

No. Click the box and you're done. The radio is narrowbanded.

I think people make it more complicated than it is. The hardest thing about NB is getting all the radios in a fleet done in a timely manner, and replacing any radios that are not capable. The actual programming itself is simple.

As with any new install or repair, it would be prudent to perform F & M checks to insure compliance with the NB specs.
