Celwave RMC800 Multicoupler

Looking for a manual, specifically the gain for a 24 port system.

The Celwave RMC800 multicouplers were available with various configurations, the number on the end indicates the number of ports. A "-K" after the number of ports indicates a two piece system comprised of an antenna mounted unit and a station mounted unit. An RMC800-24 would be a one piece system and an RMC800-24K would be a two piece. You didn't specify which one you have.

These units are configured for a specific installation by installing one or more attenuators. Several were supplied with the unit and the installer was expected to follow the directions and configure the unit properly. The objective is to take line and distribution losses into consideration to arrive at a target system gain ahead of the base station receivers. Today this is sometimes called "total excess gain"

Often the installer did this wrong or just tossed the attenuators. That results in the maximum gain which does achieve the best receiver sensitivity - but - the problem is that beyond the optimum design value every additional dB of gain only increases your receiver sensitivity by a small fraction of a dB while at the same time significantly reducing your IM rejection.

These amplifiers were available directly from Celwave or they were available through Motorola with corresponding Motorola part numbers. The manuals for the Motorola units appear to be identical to the Celwave versions but are slightly different due to Celwave being fairly conservative and Motorola more aggressive with the total excess gain target.
