Quantar backplane ID??

Post by mogman »

I was always led to believe there was an ID chip on the Quantar backplane, I have looked two over pretty closely and cannot see anything accept a three legged transistor looking device marked U1 ???
Is there a way to read the backplane ID? I do not remember ever running across it in the CPS.

The backplane ID is available in the CPS under the status panel screen as I recall, and that transistor looking thing is likely it. Look in the "Service" screens, you'll see it.

Any time an upgrade for a Quantar needed to be ordered, the BPID had to be provided to Motorola.

Yep, that three leg part in the TO-92 package is a one wire ID chip (the other two pins are power and ground).

I assume that it is the "software download ID"?
