GTR8000 Conventional Firmware Upgrade issue

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I come across strange issue with GTR8000 Conventional firmware upgrade. It is V1 (Gen1) hardware and I have had it working until decided to upgrade firmware. Originally, it was CONVBR_R07.DX.069_V3, but I loaded CONVBR_R07.107_V3 into. All operations were successful, but It can't read it via CSS. It reaches 33% and cannot move further. In addition, red alarm indicators blinks synchronously at the both radio modules.

I can connect to it via SWDL, check errors (there are no errors), can get versions, can upgrade, etc. But can't read and write via CSS.

Bank2 become CONVBR_R07.107_V3, but Bank1 remained CONVBR_R07.DX.069_V3. After that I upgraded Bank1 manually to CONVBR_R07.107_V3. No changes.

I tried different PC, radio restart, but no luck.

Blinking red alarm means Impaired, but many many of Motorola G-series manuals doesn't have any detailed information about this status. Only some very brief info that device is not fully operational due to internal or external causes. Some corrective actions must be taken. And nothing else.

Any ideas? I have only two:

1. Fresh firmware and V1 (Gen1) radio
2. BX vs CX vs DX firmware - I have no ideas what these suffixes mean

Any help will be appreciated!

Okay, guys.

If you can't read GTR. Set radio clock first! By default it's 1970 year or something and CSS will not read more than 33% of codeplug data. No clock set - no read (CPS sticks at 33%)!

Now about suffixes in conventional firmware names:

BX - Srvc version R01 - Core version 30 - CSS version R020
CX - Srvc version R02 - Core version 31 - CSS version R021
DX - Srvc version R03 - Core version 32 - CSS version R022

So, CX is fresher than BX, and DX is fresher than CX.

Blinking red alarm LEDs meant inhibited TX (by command) in my case. Live and learn!

Everything has been solved, just took 6 hours of my time.
