I have a UHF Quantar Repeater, the power supply went dead so I took it to the local Electronics Repair shop, he opened it up and the board was completely fried, he said there is nothing he can do to rebuild this supply. So my question is there anyone out there that knows how to repair these power supply's or is there a market out there to purchase another one or a compatible one, Any Help would be appreciated.

Oh ya the power supply is a: Onan 3-70506-0000

The later replacement model of the power supply (NOT made by Oman) should still be available from APD, or from companies who buy old radio systems just to part them out. I'm surprised your unit lasted so long. We used to dread unplugging a station for service or updating because we never could be sure whether it would come back up or blow up.

Yes I have checked Ebay and none of the models match that particular power supply

he is probably referring to one of the other OEM's that supplied that part/module to Motorola.

It's common to outsource the power supply modules to multiple vendors in lots of equipment and Motorola did this all the time in later products.

In the good old days they designed and built them in house but that's long gone.

Which model are you looking for ?

that Onan part number is the same as Motorola 0184906T04

Usually the Onan is better though

I really don't care which model it is as long as it works, both physically and for my particular repeater. Would anyone have any brands and part numbers I can start researching or a supplier, if I seem desperate...... it true LOL

looks like there is one on ebay right now for 80 bucks. Really your only question is if it is a 12, or 244 supply, and I think yours is a 12 volt model.

110AC to 12VDC is for low power repeaters, 110AC to 24VDC is for 110 watt repeaters.

If your input is from a DC source, those supplies are harder to find. The visual difference is the DC input supplies have a circuit breaker for a power switch and not a standrd rocker switch.

The company that does all Motorola Quantar power supply repairs (including warranty-when that was a thing) is http://www.jwglobal.net/ in California. Very reasonable and pleasant, give them a call.
