Looking for pager crystal supplier

Post by RFguy »

Our long time pager crystal manufacturer/supplier in Canada (West Crystal) has stopped making crystals and I am now looking for a new supplier.

We generally purchase small quantities (1 to 10 at a time) of crystals for pagers such as Keynote, Minitor II, Bravos, Advisors.

I have talked to ICM, but was wondering if there were any other suggestions for suppliers in Canada or the US.

I use Bomar in New Jersey. They seem to know what they're
doing when it comes to the Motorola cans, boards, recrystalling, etc.

Thanks for the lead on Bomar. I had forgot about them. I used to buy Bomar crystals from Radio Shack for my crystal scanner 30-years ago.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought it was worth updating.

BOMAR no longer makes pager or radio crystals.

ICM is the only supplier I'm aware of at this time for new crystals. If anyone knows of other suppliers, please post the info here.

If you have a lot of money burning a hole in your pocket then MtronPTI might be worth a call

This is distressing as far as i am concerned! i have been using Bomar for at least 30 years and they had all
the data on each radio model and what was needed for a particular crystal frequency order. Yes - i know
ICM does the same but i liked Bomar since i was already in their database and will miss the
crew at Bomar.

I've just ordered three crystals for Memo Express pagers with AARD series VHF rx boards from QuartSLab. They had the specs for the KXN6300AA series on hand, and just needed the frequency and crystal equation (e.g. Fxtal = (Fcarrier – 17.9MHz)/3)

I'm just waiting on the crystals, they should be arriving some time around the 10th, but I've had them make up special-purpose crystals before (OCXO crystals) which turned out well. I'll edit this post when they arrive and let you guys know how well the pagers tune up (they're going on the VHF ham band at 144.65 megs).

Cheers.

Thanks for the lead.

ICM has been a disappointment. Very long lead time and 100 units minimum order.
