Minitor V Frequency Spread

Post by KDN »

I know this is probably impossible but I have a lot of pressure from departments in the area and was wondering if at all possible.

Our Fire Dispatch frequency is 470.3875, the Ops Channel is 460.350, can anyone think of a way to get these frequencies into a Minitor V together or is it as I have discovered it to be as impossible.

Thanks!

What radios do you own?: Min4, Min5, CDM1250, HT1250

That is too far out of the split. Your frequency split is H: 470 - 477.9875 MHz. The frequency that you are trying to work with is in split E: 453 - 461.9875 MHz. Unfortunately there is no easy way (without a hardware modification, which i do not even think is possible/feasible) to get what you are looking for. It is possible to do out of band programming but I do not think anyone has been successful to gap such a major "distance".

After some testing, it appears that what you want to do can be done with the proper Minitor V and a little help from a software guru here on the Batboard.

Your Minitor V on 470.3875 should be the H Bandsplit which is 470-477.9975
That Bandsplit will not work for your frequency spread. The RF board will not work at 460.

I took a Minitor V that is Bandsplit F, 462-469.9875, and first programmed 470.3875 with the standard software.
You get an "Out of Band" message, but you just blow by that and program the pager. The pager is plenty sensitive and
works fine at 470.3875.
Now, you need to determine if the RF board will also work at 460.3500
The software will not allow the 462-470 model to be programmed for 460.350 (it will go down to 461.300)
I put the 462-470 RF board in a 453-462 pager and programmed 460.350. Works just fine, sensitivity good.

Now, here is where we need the software help. We need someone that knows how to open up the software such that
it allows the 462-470 MHz. model to be programmed down to 460.350. The engineering mode is of no value for this project.

So, if we can obtain the software fix and you are willing to obtain a 462-470 MHz Bandsplit Minitor V, the two frequencies can work in one Minitor V.
