Motorola ML900 OS

Post by KD8HWG »

I recently acquired a few Motorola ML900 laptops. The first one I am looking at has the FireWire port on the right side next to 2 USB ports and the Ethernet port. The OS product key is no longer on the unit. Was just wondering what OS these units shipped with when new (XP Home or XP Pro). Did Motorola load them up with specific software?

In your signature, under OS on ML900s:, I see listed Win 7 Professional. Are you running/have you run Win 7 Pro on a ML900?

I have factory restore discs
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

Jason,

Already have. Still interested in anything original with these machines as I rebuild a system.

Yes, Win7 pro on ML900 1.8 GHz unit with little changes as Win 7 doesn´t support underlocking (extra utility needed) and with upgraded graphics driver. No problems at all.

"underlocking" - I'm guessing underclocking? Why are you underclocking? (programming older radios?)
