USB To DB9 Male ?

USB To DB9 Male ?

Hi, I have a dell laptop with no serial port, can I use a USB to DB9 Adapter to use for connecting Radio programming cables to program radios through the USB Inputs.


Any help would be very appreciated.

yes you can, howerver there is no promises that the rss/cps will be fullt compatible with it. What are your trying to program?

This has been covered many times over. USB-to-serial converters are flakey, and a crap-shoot at best. Some computer/converter configurations seem to work ok for some, while not for others.

Your best bet is to get a PCMCIA serial card...this gives your laptop a real serial port, and is much more compatible. Quatech & SIIG are two brand names which come to mind.

Thanks for all your help. I will get the PCMCIA Card RS-232 Serial for my Dell 700M.
