Hi All,
I have been trying to re-program a MCS2000 which was used as a data radio.
I am almost positive when I initially programmed this radio it was with WinRSS ( was many years ago), but when trying to read the radio i have an error "The RSS fails to put the modem into native mode. Check the hardware setup.
So then I am thinking it must have been in the MCS2000 CPS package. but when trying to read the radio in CPS I get the following error; "No user function provided to convert block ID for block with type 255 Unpack failed."
Any ideas?

- What radios do you own?: MCS2000, GP328, GP680
Re: MCS2000 Programming Error
What are the specs of the computer your using?
Re: MCS2000 Programming Error
Hi,
Using a P4 2.4GHz on WinXP SP3.
CPS is R02.03.00
This has been the machine I have always used to program radios, so I dont think its the PC being the issue. I am thinking the CPS is way too new for this old radio maybe?

Re: MCS2000 Programming Error
Are you trying to program through the serial port on the front of the VRM?
Try taking the VRM front off and put an MCS head on it.

Re: MCS2000 Programming Error
I have tried through the front serial and the accessory connector on the bottom with both giving same issue.
I will have to dig around and find a head somewhere and try that method next.
Did try with an older CPS, but just gave me the error 'Codeplug to new'. All I want to do is change the freq. so damn hard!

So I put a head on the radio and says 'FAIL 01/90'. Take the head off and use as a data radio and it works fine.

Re: MCS2000 Programming Error
Computer speed is way too fast.
Find yourself an old 386/486 and try again.
Programming a MCS with anything faster will just give you headaches.
I successfully programmed one once with a Pentium 4 but failed every time after that.
Tried with an old dinosaur and worked first time.
Best of luck,
Ryan
