CP200 Power Connection

Post by w1ksz »

A friend gave me his CP200 to program, along with a flat battery (and no charger of course).

Which 2 of the 3 pins (under the battery) do I connect + and - to ? I didn't see any info
in the Service Manual.

Thanks, Dick, W1KSZ

Dick, Looking at the CP200 chassis from the battery side the rightmost contact is negative, and the leftmost is A+. You can verify by checking from the rightmost contact to the radio's chassis with an ohmmeter(should show 0 ohms). I'm not aware of any Motorola portable made within the last 20 years that has had anything other than A- tied directly to the chassis(on the CP200/PM400, through the PCB to chassis mounting screws).
