TALK PERMIT TONE ON APX7000 conventional channels...

Post by 4-crime »

Can anyone tell me how to activate the TALK PERMIT TONE feature in the APX7000 on conventional channels like you can with the XTS5000? The radio has the DVRS-PSU Activation flash option in the radio and of course is FPP enabled. I've been looking in the CPS but I can't seem to locate how to set it up. Seems a bit different in the APX CPS then the Astro 25 CPS.

the help is much appreciated!

There isn't any "talk permit tone" on conventional channels.
Only Trunking channels.

Well this has been achieved before on XTS5000 and XTS2500 radios through the DVRS settings in the CPS. And from what I understand from others saying the same can be achieved on the APX7000 as long as the radio has the DVRS-PSU Activation option as well as FPP in the flashcode.

I'm aware of the purpose it serves and does not serve on conventional. I just simply asked if anyone could advise me on how to get this done.

MDC settings will give you a tone when you hit the PTT.

I get a ptt tone by enabling/setting up a secure/encrypted profile and in the personality there is a clear or secure strap tone alert.

I'm looking for This Talk Permit Tone in the video.

I'm using it as an alert tone to myself in case of accidental key up. No MDC1200. I currently have TPT programmed on my XTS5000's this same way. I'm just trying to figure out the settings in the APX CPS to have this done on an APX7000.

Thanks, I am aware of the different options as far as TOT and MDC sidetone, but I am specifically looking to achive the TPT on conventional channels just like you can on the Astro 25 XTS series.

Well it's not a talk permit tone because you don't really know if you have permission to talk. It's not like a trunking system where the controller is assigning your radio to a trunk-to channel and giving your radio a grant to transmit. All you are after is an audible indication you've hit the PTT. So either set it up with the DVRS option, or set it up with the clear alert for secure. All you'll know is that you've hit the PTT. You'll have no way of knowing you've hit the repeater til you dekey and hear a squelch tail or something like that.
