XTS5000 FPP how many channels ?

How many channels of FPP does the XTS5000 have. It is DSP 12.00 and HOST 12.00 . M spec's say 1000 ch ,I think its less when you use FPP. I will only be using conventional channels no trunking. My friend that's selling it to me thinks its 256ch FPP but,he could not remember as he only uses 96ch + trunking( his work). It will be a clean codeplug when I get it ,so I'm just trying to see what options I have. I will have lots of channels I will program that will never be edited via FPP.

I have 2 v12 5000's (V+U), and a v12 VHF 2500i - all are allowing me to create more than the default 15 zones of 16 channels in FPP mode. I have not had the need to, so I can't say for certain what the radio would do when I wrote to it...

To clarify the 2nd post, if your radio has >= R10 firmware and you're using >= R10 CPS, you have some more control over the number of FPP zones vs non-FPP zones, within the following limits:

- You must always have at least one FPP zone
- FPP zones (however many you have, from 1-15) are always at the beginning of the zone list
- As you add/delete FPP zones, it will automatically adjust the personality to zone/channel relationship for the FPP zones themselves. Be aware that if you're removing FPP from the last FPP zone (to reduce by 1 or more the number of FPP zones you have), that those personalities will be erased - this will not affect any additional, higher number personalities that are slaved to non-FPP zones
- You may add zones and channels after your FPP zones up to the radio's channel capacity

I will be using CPS 12. So you for sake of #'s you could have 256 FPP and 744 non FPP all conventional ? So if I follow you right you need to use all your FPP zones and add the ones I never change after the 16th zone. This is why I ask questions . I wish I had a codeplug that was setup to go by,I have some codeplugs all UHF for the XTS5000 but they are clean.

240 and 760, but yeah, that's the idea. No trunking with FPP post-R10.

I got the codeplug from the radio I am getting and it will do 240 ch in 15 zones and 14 more channels(1ch per zone for the last 14) for a total of 254ch.It will not add any after 254,but I don't have that many to put in. I guess it eats memory for the FPP.

FPP is nice for a zone or two, but I'd also like to have more than 255 personalities.

If I uncheck FPP in the zones I don't want it in (leave it in 1 & 2) and delete those extra FPP zones, but then try to add additional personalities, I can only get up to 255.

Host R14.00.01 and CPS R15.00.00

Any way around this?

Keep in mind you can use 1 personality for multiple channels. If you have a zone, say with 16 channels, all analog and narrowband, you would only need to use up 1 personality for that zone.
