Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
Hmmmm.....Dumb question but, trying to write the APX but have invalid field report for the trunking system control channels rx tx freqs. I don't have a trunk system to enter. 403.00000 for both field wont fix it or any combination which was in there when I started. Any ideas?
thx

Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
One thing I hate about the APX CPS. A lot of fields that aren't even used get set to NULL when making a change in something else which results in Invalid Fields.
I remember coming across the trunking system problem but I forget exactly how I cleared it.
Try adding a new system and then delete the old system or change the system type from P25 to Type II and then back again.
It's been a while since I ran into that problem.

Started with a fresh cp and now it's working. Thanks for the response.
Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
The darn two position concentric switch is a bugger to move.
Its hidden almost completely under the rotary switch and does not stick out far enough.
Gonna be a real problem with gloves on for any first responders.
We use this sw to turn on/off secure or scan depending on the dept - may have to rethink that choice.

fineshot,
At what point in an IDLH environment would you want people changing scan or secure modes? On my operations radios, I don't even allow scan- and we have secure strapped per talkgroup. I'd just like to hear other opinions on the matter, as we have noticed the same thing on the APX switch. Heck, I find it hard to manipulate in an office setting.

I don't think Motorola sought any user input on that switch. Like many users it's pointless and difficult at best to manipulate in an office.

We don't have any APX7K's in use yet in the IDLH environment.resqguy911 wrote:fineshot,

The SO's use scan to hear whats going on around the county or if in a local town to hear the
nearby towns PD's using scan.
The CIU personnel often wear gloves during the course of doing business. Manipulating switches
on the XTS5K for them have not been a problem but with the APX7K concentric sw that could pose
a problem for them. When we can get the xts radios back we have been changing to the strapped
configuration but getting them back to reprogram is not easy to accomplish.
With the XTS5K's in the past and some in the present we have this setup with the concentric switch,
but looking forward with the APX7K that may have to change. We don't have many yet but have been
playing around with one and the 5.0.0 cps programing and starting to choose dept template options.

I understand completely. Unfortunately I always start thinking in fire terms first, keep foregetting about the other users!

Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
First day with my new APX7k and APX CPS...don't hurt me.
I loaded the system keys I need, I created a trunking personality and added the SysID for the first system. The "System Key Type" and "System Key Present" are grayed out...but I have the software system key loaded. What gives?
What I am missing?
*edit* In case there is a question, this is legit...no hax0ring here.

Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
To use software system keys you need a no charge option.
Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
I just looked at a codeplug.
You need QA01749 Legacy SW System Key Enable.

I've found the problem with the secure switch to be that you push it sideways with your finger
or thumb and it does move, but the real problem is that it travels such a short distance that you can't feel it move.

Re: APX7000 Programming Thoughts
When we had on site training the demo was lacking the option. The instructor called Florida and they enabled it while he was on the phone. I do not know if he had some super secret spiffy software or the issue stuff.
