XTL5000 Wont Read

Post by firestick »

Ive had my XTL5000 upgraded from an W3 Head to an O5 Head (all done by a moto tech) and had the firmware upped to R14. However it now comes up with this error;

Read Radio Failed
Error Context:23, Status: eced0035

Im using V14 of the CPS and a genuine GCAI to USB cable. It sets the radio to program mode but fails after a few dots have passed. Is there something obvious im missing? The computer loads the drivers ok (im running win 2000 on that laptop).

My other question is weather or not it would be the old code plug causing issues? Would i be able to just knock up a new code plug under the new software and then load that up?

Mid power remote mount does not support USB GCAI, you must use a serial cable.

Mid power remote mount does not support GCAI USB at the TIB... it does support GCAI USB at the head.

Akardam is correct, the manual says mid power can go through the head but from personal experience USB causes people many headaches. Serial is normally best.

Were you trying USB through the transceiver or the head or both?

Sorry for being so long I was traveiling around Australia

Plugging into the brick brings up the message "No USB" but plugging into the head at least puts it in program mode but it seams the software is timming out. Is there somewhere I could find what te error message means? The detailed service guide and cps help don't list the error.

Would my issue have anything to do with running win2000 and the head installing its self as a modem on com port 4?

Im going to try upgrading to XP to see if this solves the issue.

Bump...

With my XTLs (FW12) using the USB to rear deck cable (data cable) the USB driver gets stupid under XP every couple of months or so. Open up the device manager and delete the XTL radio (under modems). Turn the radio back on (or reconnect the cable) and let windows reinstall the driver. Works after that everytime.

FWIW in my application the cable stays plugged in all the time to one of the radios and into the MW800.

No need to worry...it ended up being a computer related issue.
