Mitrek 800 to ham band

I have a couple of 800MHz Mitrek radios that my club is looking to use to link their various repeater sites. I am wondering what is involved in converting them, other than re-crystaling and re-tuning. They currently have only a single chanel element in them. Doing 2 frequencies for the links (one RX, one TX) isn't an issue because there's no 900MHz activity out here. I am also wondering if it is possible to change the 45? MHz split on them to 25MHz without using 2 channel elements.

Any one have any suggestions / hints on these?
