GTX900 mobile PA removal

Post by pilotwi »

I am trying to replace the blue PA module with the rectangular heatsink. I have removed the screws and cut the leads but can't get the heatsink off the board. I tried prying to no avail - don't want to crack the board. Will heat help?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The P.A module is soldered to the board, so you will have to heat the board near the flanges to lift the module from the board.
This is a shot of an od board that took a dump, and I pulled the P.A module to repair another.

Does your main board look like this one by chance?

I saved this one as the connectors and audio amp Etc... are still salvageable.
