6580 or 4580 for ham

Post by Ben »

Has anybody tried either the 6580 or 4580 for 900 mHz ham? Will the CPS allow those channels or is the a mod out there to do it?

Mod works good for a 6550 Q split for going beyond 470 also... just enter the upper extended band limits

Beware this will only work on XX80s with digital flashes. Will not work with SmartNet TRBOs.

I noticed this, very disappointing! I am wondering why though?

It's got to be something in the firmware. The OOB mods will go just fine, but as you noticed, when going to PTT you get the error tone. No VCO unlock or synth unlock warnings. Maybe the limits are calculated different in the trunking flash since they have to reference 800MHz channel assignments from the controller.
