Ribless programming compatability question

Have a question or information regarding interfacing or interoperating Motorola digital radios with models from other manufacturers? Here's the place to do so.

Ribless programming compatability question

Post by JimmyL1011 »

Are the programming cables universal between the XTS radios? I have my own account with our friends in Schaumberg and have XTS3000 and XTS5000 radios and sortware. I have the XTS3000 radios connected to RSS software through a RIB and my XTS5000 radios going ribless through a USB port. Would it be possible to use the ribless cable with the whole XTS series of radios (assuming I have the correct software for each model) or does each radio require a dedicated cable? Recently I was offered a used XTS3500 but I'd rather not have to buy a new programming cable for each radio.

Inquiring minds wanna know.

No, XTS3000 and XTS5000 cables are not the same. XTS3000 uses the same cable as the JEDIs. XTS5000 is its own beast and works with XTS2500, XTS1500, MT1500, PR1500

You can use the XTS3000/jedi cable with an XTS3500. The 3500 uses a different software than the 3000. It is RSS , DOS Based and NLA from Motorola.
