Early Astro firmware and DES-OFB module

Post by Fuel4300 »

I have what appears to be a DES-XL/OFB module by p/n (NTN1564) but I wanted to confirm that by installing it and reading it in test mode. However, the only Astro Saber I have available is an early firmware (thanks to needing VSELP around here...) and in test mode it reads KG1 DES-XL and KG2 UNKNOWN.

Does the firmware pre-date DES-OFB or is that algo not flashed to the module? My guess is that it is a firmware incompatibility. Any ideas?

Radio firmware is Host 3/DSP 5 and the EMC is 2.12

Yes. DES-OFB did not exist prior to P25 and as such the VSELP-era HOST firmware doesn't know what it is.

EMC 2.12 should be recognizable down to HOST 5 firmware.
