APX7000 Quick Call

Post by CalebFireD »

Has anyone heard as to when this update will come out? It surprises me that Motorola still has not pushed this out.

Probably the firmware release following the TRBO rollout.

This is slated for SR14.5 which should be in June 2014.

Surprised considering it only took them 8 major firmware revisions to push it out to Astro25...

Both have been running jokes for a long time. TRBO would take a bit of work, and wouldn't maintain the separation between commercial and public safety that Moto likes to protect. QC2... it's TWO FARKING TONES, Moto! How damn hard is it?!?

Anyway... both have been rumored for years, nothing has materialized. It'll happen when it happens... unless you have 10K+ subscribers out there, in which case call Moto and push them a bit. They might listen to you!

Because our town dispatches QCII analog then all comms are P25 and I need to answer the page verbally. I carry an APX7000 and a phone everywhere, why add a third devise?

Wow, the M6 has a transmitter in it, too? Keep in mind that QC2 includes ENCODE as well as decode...

No. You will not find TRBO TDMA in an APX. Not happening.

QCII is coming and is in the help menu along with Singletone, and DTMF. I have been told that it will be only decode.

Get it in writing. A certain city happened to get a slick sheet from Motorola saying the XTS5000s would support phase 2... guess who coughed up a couple hundred "free" APX6000s as a result...

Next release supports it. Played with a APX at Dayton that had it in it.

Well that would be nice if it does, then I'll have the best of both worlds. But because there are times when a portable is too bulky to carry around, the compact M6 with vibrate and voice storage are a nice features to have. And to receive Astro I programmed a channel in the M6 for the VRS when I'm out near the truck.
