XTS5000-III UHF Options

Post by mikegilbert »

I came across this XTS5000 UHF on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 69008&rd=1

And I noticed it has some interesting features:
Q445 Fireground Accountability Operation

Lots of features and options installed in the
flashcode. This radio is FM approved. The flashcodes
are genuine and radio is legit with tags. (This is not
the cheap alpha version) The latest XTS5000 supports
programming via a PocketPC HP iPAQ. It also supports
MDC Call Alert Encode / Decode. The new XTS5000
supports up to 48 talkgroups per personality. The
XTS3000 and older XTS5000 only support 15 talkgroups
per personality.
Is it really possible to program one of these by pocket PC?

Also- What is the Q445 FIREGROUND ACCOUNTABILITY OPERATION?

Adds special signalling to the radio for the accountability feature of Fireground as well as the channel announce feature. You can associate a prerecorded file (orignially in wav format) to each channel in the radio.

Yes, the latest CPS version 5.0 supports it...the radio MUST also have the latest firmware version 5.00.00 to support features such as 48 talkgroups per personality. There's much more detailed info in this recent thread:

From what I've read frem to Pocket PC readme from the CPS, you can read a radio and save to archive, wrirte an archive to the radio, clone radio to radio, or clone archive to radio. Also allows chaging of MDC and trunked ID, and Astro network ID.

It does not allow changing other trunking info or adding/deleting conventional channels, or trunked systems or personalities.

Can anyone confirm this with a PPC?

does it seem odd to anyone else that this radio just shows up loaded like this?

not saying anything, but that looks like it may have been "borrowed"

It's the first UHF XTS-5000 I've seen on ebay- must have come from an Iraqi police officer....

It's a crying shame that it isn't a 380-470 version. The 450-520 unit will not properly tune down to the 440 Ham band. It also needs another $750 to equip it with DES-OFB. Now you've got a $3,000 used radio.
