XTL5000 TRI-Band / Head Config

We just got in the SP Tri-Band units in and need the service manual for the 700/800 XTL5000. Does anyone have the Part number of the Detailed Service Manual for the 700/800 unit.

I'm curious. This tri-band radio - does that imply you can have one head and 3 decks, so you could do V/U/8 with one head?

Thanks for that information. I didnt know if the 700/800 came in the same manual. Yes the SP version has 3 radios with one head. Thanks again

Definatly!

Even though the purchase price must be insane, it sure would be nice to have all 3 with one head. Doesn't the UHF XTL5000 do 403-470?

The UHF R1 does 380-470 and the UHF R2 does 450-520.

So, as much as one might cringe - Any idea what the list price would be to get an XTL5000 in the tri-band (VHF, UHF R1 and 800MHz) with Smartnet and IMBE across the board with say, a 4 head?

I have a feeling it's going to be very very up there.

It's also an SP build, meaning you're not likely able to get your hands on it unless you're a fed. purchaser.

OTOH, USGOVTECH has posted a lot of weird, SP configs lately... with no pix or other supporting docs. Like I said, the Cowthief meter is starting to climb just a bit...

Well sorry, but he has a very valid point. We all know Motorola has made some pretty interesting SP gear in the past. However, we also know that a few people insist on talking about equipment that is "imagineware" that is, nobody has ever seen proof that it exists. I'm sure nobody is calling BS on the tri-band XTL, but with all the other things that have been debunked in the past, some pictures would be nice, at least to satisfy curiosity.

It sure sounds like a crock to me. However; the CPS DOES have an option for a "Multi Radio System" under Radio-wide, Advanced. I was thinking that it said "Dual Radio System", but it does say Multi. I've never seen a codeplug for such, but the SW only has provisions for a primary radio and an auxillary radio.

I notice that there hasn't been much reply from him since he was asked for photos. Hum...

sure are a lot of batlabs police on here. I am trying to figure out how going from asking what the part numers are, to putting some one in the same relm as cowthief. If you look on the board USGOVTECH has not posted on here very often. No one has to post pic's of anything they do. It's not like he posted he has a FPP spectra.

There are quite a few people 'round these parts who have seen many varying XTL5000 configs, and not a single one has ever seen a tri-band config. USGOVTECH has posted all sorts of "out-there" radio configs in the past with nothing to back any of it up. And, we ask for pictures, and he disappears. Eenteresting.

Not to mention, someone who's a radio tech for the fed a. likely wouldn't be posting here and b. certainly wouldn't use USGOVTECH for a screen name.

There's an easy way to clear this up. Hirez pix or STFU.

Astro Spectra's also have the multi-radio option in RSS/CPS. Its used for the HRR and true multiradio systems, which both consists of two radios only.

Only difference is that the XTL's MUST be factory ordered for HRR or dual radio, and is not field upgradable as the Astro Spectra's are.

I have seen 700/800 radios refered to as "dual band" in motorola literature, so would a dual drawer setup with a 700/800 box included not be tri-band by a stretch of the meaning?

The dual band is RX/TX on radio one
and RX only on radios 2
This is why we are so interested in the triband and finding more information.

That's my guess, is that the 700/800 may be getting tossed around as part of a dual radio system vs a tri radio system.

The XTL5000 PB does/did list a dual radio option in both the HRR and normal verisons. Either way, I have not heard of any Moto radio ever being offered in a tri-radio configuration (SP or otherwise). From an operators perpective, that's a lot to handle.

I vote for its really a 700/800 radio with another band radio attached.

I almost took a picture of a VHF, UHF and 800MHz Spectra zip-tied together. That's how I had a setup at one time actually. VHF and UHF Maxtrac and an 800MHz GTX ziptied together with the antennas and power connected together (it was just for RX). Anyway, it is pretty curious that USGOVTECH or whatever his name is hasn't replied. If it were me that was claiming to have such a radio, the first thing I'd do is send you guys as many pics of it as I could.

I'd have to guess the 700/800 is being considered 2 bands even though its only 1 radio. TRI -Band moto would be L33T
