astro saber ii uhf flash code??

Post by kotaguchi »

Hi,

I have a Astro Saber II UHF I just got and this is the flash code:

599108-1C5E00-1

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H101,G101,H169 Conventional Repeater Access (Analog Operation Only)(MDC1200 or
Singletone)
H868/W298 Conventional Multikey and Analog Conventional MDC OTAR
G170/H43 Remote Monitor and Radio Trace
H46 One-Touch Operation
H39 Selective Radio Inhibit
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation
Q181 Add StatAlert (MDC1200) Features
Q352 Soft ID
Q351 MODAT Operation
W947/Q947 APCO Packet Data
H270/H738 MDC Status Message
Q387 Conventional voting scan
Q173/G173 Smartzone OmniLink Operation
G182 Enhanced Radio Call Protocol

When I go into the Tx and Rx option for a conventional personality,I get the Astro Tx&Rx options. But the radio will not receive Astro digital. My radio sounds like it for second tries to receive like the csq is opening but nothing. When I tx to my Astro Saber UHF I with digital, the Astro Saber I does not receive the digtial tx from the Astro Saber II.

Any clues??

Thanks,

Ko

It could be a few things,

First it could be in the programming, be sure that the NAC codes are correct and I would set the squelch to Digital Carrier squelch.
Second it could need an alignment.
Third is it may not have the correct DSP firmware.

What is the firmware rev on it?

That firmware and DSP does support IMBE digital, so look at the other two things.

Thanks for the info Jim.

Here is the info for the Astro Saber IHF Model I that I think are the suspect radios.
"
H04RDC9PW5AN

1meg

codeplug:000C

firmware:03.36.01.00

dsp software:N05.01.06

flashcode:000001-000000-9

system package:H35

external codeplug size:2427 "

Strange that I get the Astro options for Rx&Tx in the conventional personality in CPS 012.02.00.
I can tx&Rx on the ch with Astro enabled for Rx and Tx between the two Model I Astros uhf. But,with that channel Astro enabled,I can't receive at all using all the other Astro I I have that is analog only????
Are the Astro Saber UHF Model I with the above info analog only????

The Astro Saber in your last post with the flashcode beginning with zero is
an analog-only radio. You can read this yourself by using the Akardam flashcode
decoder that's available to you on this Board.

Then you wrote:

What does a CPS of 12/whatever have to do with your Astro Saber radios? The
correct CPS for such radios is CPS 05/whatever.

Well, actually, what he's got there is a VSELP radio - notice the lack of the "Astro Ready" option, and the DSP release 5.x.x (VSELP). So yes, it will do digital (Astro), but not IMBE.

To the OP: Slow down, take a deep breath, and then spend some time reading up on Astro radios. There's plenty of good information here on the forum and on the main site. There's also a PDF floating around out there entitled "Guide to Astro Digital Radios v3" which is a good resource.
