XTS3000 BATT menu item problem

Post by k5hdm »

Hi, I have a XTS3000 M3, and when I 1st got it, it had a BATT menu item available and when an IMPRES battery was attached, the battery meter would show and decrease accordingly. I didn't have a good IMPRES battery at the time (just the one that came with it..1700 charges..hah) so I took that item off the menu.. I now have some IMPRES batteries and when I went to put it back on the menu, it was gone.. I even opened up the original codeplug that I new the BATT item was on the menu, and it was gone from there, too.. Does anyone know what's going on here.. Also, when I have an IMPRES battery on the unit now, it doesn't display the battery meter.. but it did before.. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It sounds like you have the 3000 confused with a 5000... The 3000 doesn't display real time IMPRES battery info with a BATT menu and fuel gauge like the Astro25 series does..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Unless you XTS3000 has host 6.xx (P25 trunking) then your SOL. No BATT menu item for you!

I have host 07.13.00.. I have seen the battery menu on it, and I don't have it confused with the 5000...

Thanks!

BATT is not present in host firmware R07.13.00.

If you've got photographic proof to the contrary, by all means post it.

You might also want to post the full host, DSP, model number, and RSS/CPS revision you're using.

Well, I, of course, didn't take a photo of BATT on the menu, because I didn't think it was a big deal at the time.. but I can guarantee that it was on the menu and did work... the battery meter also displayed the whole time when an IMPRES battery was attached.. I was using CPS 5.01.xx and was wondering if 5.03.00 made that go away.. But I can promise you, I am not mistaking it for the 5000.. I will ask the guy I bought it from and see if he knows what's up.. there definitely was a BATT menu on it.. I have no reason at all to make that up..

I own XTS3000 M3 with latest firmware host & DPS (radio flashed wit Astro conventional firmware, not a 9600 trunking). I did NOT see BATT menu item on display nor CPS.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

I think this is what we need to be paying attention to here.

I have a an XTS3000 with the R06.x 9600 trunking firmware and there is no BATT option under the display tab in CPS. The only difference in the display from non-9600 3000's I have noted is the RSSI meter is active in the top right of the display for both 3600 and 9600 systems.

I have never ever seen a battery option in the Astro CPS/RSS - from ancient RSS 5.x to newest CPS R05.03.00 running any version of firmware.

You must be confusing something here....

I am really not confusing anything.. It had batt on there.. I'm not sure what the guy was talking about with the host 6.xx.. but I have 7.something, and i promise you, it had the batt on there.. and the battery meter would come on and the bars would drop when there was a impres battery.. I had the xts3000 for a while before I got a 5000, so I am 100% sure.. and it wasn't very long ago that I took the BATT off the menu of the 3000 to make room for call/page because we started using that on the repeater..(HUGE mistake!!!!!!)

Well, you can swear up one side and down the other and until you're blue in the face, I don't think there's anything else the community at large can do to help you get back something that by all rights shouldn't have been there in the first place.

The only time my XTS3000 will display a charge indicator, is when the pack is near depletion, it flashes, then goes blank and the cycle repeats, but has never stayed 'on' during use. As for the RSSI indicator, I don't see that ever, not even when looking in CPS, can I select that 'option' to enable.
My CPS is R05.02.00, so it is not 'ancient' yet.
I hope this issue gets resolved, if it indeed, is an issue of sorts.

There is no issue with the RSSI indicator.. It will only show up with Host R06.xx.xx and a 9600 trunking flashcode.

RSSI is not necessary for my uses at the present time, so it matters little to me.
My Host is R07.71.00, and DSP i 8.03.03.
Late enough for any use I have.

Thanks for the heads up regardless.

I'm sitting here with a 800 Meg XTS3000 model III that has p25 trunking in it, FC is 100008-000480-9, firmware 06.11.03.00, dsp N08.01.00 rebanding is checked and there is no, "read none nada nothing", no battery icon available in any of the menus or keys or buttons whatsoever.

Has 2 P25 systems in it BTW and it is talking to a R2670 and it has a working impress battery installed.

I am using astro saber & XTS3000 CPS 05.02.00

Again no battery meter icon

Hate to bring this subject back up, but I was kinda wanting to add this to my xts3k as well. When I turn the unit on and it does the self test, I can see a battery meter. Is that just something that all lcd displays show, but is not available in the software?
Thanks

It is not available in the XTS3000.....it has to be an XTS5000 or XTS2500.

I kinda gathered that... I guess my actual question is: Is the battery meter on all the LCD displays just not possible to be enabled on the 3k. I can see it at the top left corner when I power up my radio, but after the self test it goes away.

You will only see it upon power up, and it will blink on/off when the battery is low.. That's about all it will do.
