APX R08.07.00 is up on MOL

Post by mab »

Seems to load on a 7K portable without incident; crypto keys and wideband channels remain intact.

[Fixed that for you.... now reads R08.07.00. -Alex]

Release notes:

Radio Release Notes – Subscriber Release 7.12 - Oct 2012

APX 7000/7000XE/6000/6000XE/6000Li/4000/2000, 7500/6500/6500Li, SRX2200

New Version: Host/DSP – R08.07.00, CH – R14.05.00, Secure – R01.02.02, Bluetooth Option Board – R04.05.00
Old Version: Host/DSP – R08.05.05, CH – R14.05.00, Secure – R01.02.02, Bluetooth Option Board – R04.05.00
CPS Version: R08.02.00

Important Notes:

Abstract: UHF Range 1 APX6000 needs retune
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: APX6000 or APX6000XE with UHF Range 1 capability
Description: Fielded APX6000/6000XE UHF R1 portable units, when upgraded to firmware version R06.00.00 or later from a version earlier than R06.00.00 need to be completely re-tuned. The tuning is needed to assure the proper operation and spec compliance of the radios. APX6000/6000XE UHF R1 radios shipped from the factory with R06.00.00 or higher will not need any retuning when future upgrades are applied.

Abstract: FLASH memory reorganization
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: Release R07.00.00 implemented a reorganization of the FLASH memory in order to provide memory space for storing downloadable language packs, improving POP25 speed, and provide additional memory space for future feature development. This reorganization will affect FLASH upgrade speed and codeplug programming speed. In general, the download of codeplug/firmware information will be faster, allowing the user to disconnect the radio from the CPS sooner than in the past, and the radio will decompress and install the codeplug/firmware independently, without needing to be connected to the CPS. The radio will need to be allowed time to decompress and install the codeplug/firmware, during which all normal radio operation will be suspended, and the radio will display "Updating...". If power is removed during this process, it will restart upon the next power-up.

New Features:

Abstract: APX now supports GPS Location Data while Inhibited
System Platforms Affected: P25 Trunking and Conventional
Special Configurations: GPS equipped
Description: It is possible today to disable/inhibit any individual radio so that it may not access the system, initiate a call, or receive traffic. This release adds the capability so that any radio so disabled/inhibited shall continue to provide radio check functionality and broadcast its location data at intervals and shall be capable of being polled without alerting the subscriber operator.

Abstract: MPL Enhancement
System Platforms Affected: Conventional
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: The MPL list has been extended from 16 to 64 Private Line entries. The radio will display the MPL alias momentarily on a channel change or upon the selection of the MPL from the list. The ability has been added to designate a different PL/DPL tone in the Direct Mode than the tone assigned to the radio’s receive frequency in a duplex pair. Also, the ability has been added to save the MPL selected index on a per channel basis. Previously the selected MPL would be applied to all User Selectable PL channels.

Abstract: Listen Only Talkgroup now supported on APX
System Platforms Affected: 3600 and 9600 Trunking
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: The CPS can now be used to identify Trunking Personalities as “listen only”. All Talkgroups within that personality will be restricted to “listen only”
operation. Radios will ignore PTTs on listen only Talkgroups and Announcement Groups. Radios will affiliate normally with these Talkgroups.

Abstract: Radio Alias Display on APX Mobile now supported
System Platforms Affected: Trunking and Conventional
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: APX Mobile users will now be able to view/read their Radio Alias ID from the mobile equipped with any O-Series control head. The Radio Alias ID display is accessed via a menu item (MYID).

Abstract: Special Characters allowed in the Radio Alias ID
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: N/A
Description: This release adds the ability to utilize special characters when creating radio alias IDs such as !@#$%^&*()

Abstract: 3rd Party Control Head Support for microphone audio routing
System Platforms Affected: Conventional
Special Configurations: 3rd party Control Head in use
Description: Currently, when the PTT source is hardware PTT or SB9600 control head PTT, the radio reads a codeplug field to determine whether to transmit aux_mic or aux_tx audio. This software change causes the radio to handle hardware PTT and SB9600 control head PTT differently.

• For hardware PTT, continue the current operation of reading the codeplug field to determine whether to transmit aux_mic or aux_tx audio.

• For SB9600 control head PTT, ignore the codeplug field and always transmit aux_mic audio. The special handling of the SB9600 control head PTT is already conditionalized based on the type of TIB board; these changes only apply when an O-style TIB is attached.

Hmm, enabling 'Listen Only' on a P25 system TG stops that personality from being assigned to a conventional scan list.

Sneaky...

You probably have "selected channel" set for the talkback channel.
