I and N DSP why?

I and N DSP why?

Just curious, if the I and the N DSP are the "same" why is there an I and a N?

Different firmware builds to suit different versions of the DSP 56000 chip.

On another discussion forum a few years ago, it was determined the chip manufacturer was the reason for 'N' or 'I' and the 'I' was for Intel... can't recall what the 'N' was off-hand.
