XTS 4000 speaker mic

Post by VE3TUH »

Hi. I thought I already posted this question, but cannot find it. Sorry if 2 posts!
Is anybody aware if the iden speaker mics on ebay are compatible with the xts4000? They appear to have the same connector as the bottom jack on the 4000, I wouldnt mind picking one up if they would work. For example, the iden speaker mic NNTN5208.

Thanks!

You'll need to find one of the Nextel Iden speaker mics used on the heavy duty iden radios that were discontinued years ago. I've never tried this with an XTS40000, but its the same connector as the radio was stuffed into an IDEN housing. I suspect it is the same. Buy one and find out.

I actually found a iden speaker mic at Dayton this year. while the connector does fit, it wont stay on as the xts4000 has a different attachment system. We never did test it for functionality.

Considering the 4000 was meant as a low profile radio there's little need for a obvious two way radio speaker mic

iDen PSM will not fit, because there is some small piece of plastic or metal that prevent it. I can't recall, it was a few years ago. It can be removed and it will fit will, but AFIK pinouts are not the same.

BTW, I have a few excessive XTS4000 earpiecies, 2 different kinds, both with PTT and genuine ones. They connects to side jack connector, but not to the bottom connector. You can PM me if you're interested in.

I know this is a little old, but for reference:

I had an XTS4000 and I used an ear piece with it.
Motorola Tetra MTH600 MTH650 MTH850 MTH800 Series accessories fit the XTS and have the screw to secure it in place.

hey, thanks for that feedback! However, i do not see anywhere on the xts4000 where you would use a screw to secure the bottom adapter in place?

Open up the accessory cover, and the screw goes on the upper part of the connector.
Looking at the radio, the display facing you, the port is on the lower right side of the radio.

gotcha. I was looking at the bottom connector. Thanks for that information, think I'll get one to play with.
