Double sidetone beep on PTT-ID XTL5000

Post by hobbes »

Just programmed a UHF XTL5000 with O5 head and keypad mic. I have a conventional analog channel programmed for MDC1200 as signalling, PTT-ID is turned on in MDC system with Sidetone enabled. When the mic is keyed, I get the standard long beep that I expect for the MDC PTTID, then a brief pause, then another chirp. Any idea where this second beep is coming from on key-up? I've never encountered it before on a Motorola radio. I've looked through the codeplug, but it's pretty vanilla stuff -- all conventional UHF channels. Any thoughts?

Check your MDC PTT ID sidetone settings.

Leading PTT-ID is checked.
PTT-ID Sidetone is checked.
PTT-ID Short Sidetone not checked.
Trailing PTT-ID not checked.

Same configuration I've used a hundred times before on other radios...

What radios do you own?: an unhealthy amount of them

Clear TX Beep is what it sounds like. Check your secure settings and see if that's checked.
