I am curious on pricing on this. I'm finally ready to replace all my XTS series handhelds and would buy this if the price is right.
Schrodinger's Radio: It is simultaneously too loud and too quiet, but you will never know which until someone transmits.

I wonder if anyone has figured out how to get the 900mhz version to work in the ham bands?

Probably as much as a pain in the ass as taking a 450 radio down to 440
In other words not worth it

Hi Jeff,
Actually in the case I don't think so. Seeing as this radio is designed to work below AND above the ham band it's most likely the the radio is designed to work in the ham band and the exclusion is only in CPS. Many people, including me, have XTL2500's and XTS2500's on 900 ham that operate flawlessly.
A U2 radio was designed to work from 450 and up. I think that's a very different situation.
Of course this is only my opinion so that means this and a bus ticket might get me on a bus....

Well spank me an send me home with a sandwich. It appears that its only the single knob 4000 that does 900mhz. No XE.

Re: APX 4000XE released
Following the series l, I thought that it would be 4000. Just kidding. Under 1600 is pretty inexpensive for that radio.
Re: APX 4000XE released
Just keeping an old thread alive....
Readme for APX CPS14 shows 2 knob versions of APX4000 and APX1000 for 900mhz.
There is hope.
