APX 7500 Color Display/Secure Selection

I've been stuck on 2 issues that I haven't been able to figure out or find anyone who knows the answer to.

Radio 1: APX 7500 with an 09 head, flashcode 3a1558-001490-2, latest firmware 15.01
Radio 2: APX 8000, flashcode d8x068-811490-2, latest firmware 15.01

1. On the Radio Ergonomics-Display-Background Color Control Tab, no matter what color I choose, it stays as basically a white background behind the keypad. The only time I see red is when I'm out of range, and green when the radio is updating. I have tried numerous settings and the only thing I can guess is that the radio is not feature enabled for this? In the Controls-Menu Items tab, I add Colr to both conventional and trunking menus, but once programmed they are not available in the menu.

This question applies to all the APX mobiles and portables.

2. In conventional mode, I select KEY on the keypad and choose which encryption key I want to use right from the radio. In trunking, I choose Kset and my only choice is Kset 1. It is basically strapped to whatever is selected on the talkgroup tab in trunking personality. The talkgroup tab says select, and a key must be chosen on the key select tab. In the Secure Configuration-Secure Wide-Multikey-KSet- User selectable is checked. I have tried this with ADP software based keys, and Hardware keys with the same results. Is this definitively the way it's supposed to be?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The CPS help says the color only applies to Mobiles so that should leave the APX8000 out. Also I think the only control head for the mobiles that supports changing color is the O5 head.

Thanks, I'll have to try one of our 05 heads and see if works there. You would think it would say in the help file, "true when 05 head present" or some such nonsense. I didn't think the color display would work on the 8000 anyway.
