Anyone know if FPP is an available option on the APX 4500? Seems it work work if equipped with the Manta Ray microphone. Anyone know?

Well Akardam's encoder does not account for incompatible options, as stated in the disclaimer. While it's an invaluable tool, I'm not convinced it's a definitive source of what will or will not work.

According to Motorola, FPP is not an available option for any mobile radios, just portables.

They also said that aside from the bluetooth mic adapter that goes in the GCAI connector, the mobiles don't support bluetooth. Why does my 4500 have a blue dot on the O2 head then?

Apparently Motorola doesn't know everything. I just setup and programmed 35 APX7500's with keypad mikes and Gov FPP. Maybe that's the answer, it's a Fed Only option?

For the 4500, I would guess you might not be able to add FPP, it is not the high tier radio like the 7500 or multi-band.

Right. I just wondered if anyone's ever seen it before.

I'm with you on the 7500 mobile FPP. I've heard it talked about before, so I think this guy probably doesn't know what he's talking about, which means the 4500 *MIGHT* be able to do it, perhaps unofficially.

My 02 has the same blue dot. I'm assuming that to mean there's blue-tooth hardware built into the head (hence the large protrusions on the side which might be BT antennae). Yet, there's no setting in the flash code or code plug for enabling it, so perhaps a "planned feature"?

Could be. Does APX4500 GPS operation require something in the flash code, or is it an inherent feature?

Yes, it does... there's a separate flash feature just like the portables do (in addition to requiring a separate GPS antenna, of course)
