APX4500 Igntion trouble

Post by celltech25 »

Have a APX4500 800 Mhz Firmware 16.23.00

When you apply power without ignition the Control head goes into a loop where it will flash APX4500 for a few secs you hear a small blip from speaker and then it starts over. When you apply ignition the radio boots up and works as it should whenyou remove igntion the radio shut off and start the APX4500 loop on the display

Also Noticed if I program thru the head the radio goes into flashzap after every programming and downloads this does not happen when i go to the Brick port to program. Im thinking maybe i have a bad Head?

it is a Dash mount unit

For the power cycling issue, check the ignition sense setting in the CPS. It sounds like it is set to require ignition to power up.

What radios do you own?: XPR5550, XPR7550e

Where are you applying ignition power? I believe it has to go to the yellow wire on the control head, not on the chassis.

Best bet for ignition programming is "soft power up". It will follow ignition but also let you turn it on via the power button.

Also, ver 17.0x of firmware and CPS is out for this radio.

That... should not happen. I'd send it off to Juarez if it's still under warranty.
