GPS on MOTOTRBO 2.0 simplex

Has anyone done any work with GPS and the newer 2.0 models using the dual capacity simplex mode on a single frequency?
Can you run voice on timeslot 1 and use timeslot 2 for GPS updates?
I checked with one GPS vendor and they didn't know if it would work.
I've used the 2 timeslots for voice communications on a single simplex frequency and it's worked out well.
