Motorola ASTRO Spectra W7 Remote Head

Post by tuckerm »

I'm wondering what is compatible with the Motorola ASTRO Spectra W7 type of radio as far as remote heads. Would this one be compatible?: http://cgi.ebay.com/MOTOROLA-SPECTRA-RE ... 335ebea625

The head on Ebay is a legacy Spectra (old Analog only) head, and it will NOT work with the Astro units. As far as what heads will work with a W7 radio, a W7, or W5 head. The W5 will have limited capability as it does not have all of the keys.

If you want go to a W4, or W9 (or a W3 HHCH, but that needs more hardware) you can change the s-record in the radio but that requires a lot of work, and LAB software that is not easily obtained. You can do a bit of searching to find out more on that.

I would just stick with the W7. If you do not have one then put up a want add for one. I'm sure you could find one here on the board.
