Spectra question

Post by racemedic »

Is there a was to go directly to a specific mode that is programmed in the radio, instead of going thru all the modes to get to the one you want? Is it in the RSS somewhere and I missed it?

Thanks

If you have a keypad model Spectra hold down Rcl and then enter the mode number and hit sel I believe.

If your radio has firmware version 6.xx then turn on zones and use them :D we all love zones. Then you can group your channels in banks.

You can program the home button to go to a specific channel. You can programm this button either through the RSS or through the service menu on the front. That way every time you press the home button, it would bring you directly to an assigned channel.

I would have to play with a spectra for a few minutes to remember how to do it on the front. I believe in the RSS it is under radio wide options. I don't have my laptop handy to confirm this.

But if I remember correctly from the main menu it is F4,F2. That is radio wide options. There should be a home selection or something to that effect. Tab over to it and hit F1 and it will give you an explanation. Set your home button, program everything back in and presto, your home button will bring you to the same channel everytime. :D

If you have an A9 control head, you can program keys to go to whatever mode you want. In the RSS control head keypad programming screen, program a key for "MODE X", hit return, type in the mode number and hit return again. This will also work on a DEK attached to an A9. This does not appear to work with any of the other control heads types.

I don't think it is zone capable :( and I guess I should have said that it's an A7 control head. I'll give the hold rcl, then mode and select a try (thanks Nate) and see if that works. I have the home button programmed to what I need. I looked all over the RSS to find where to enable zones and I thought that all spectras could do zones but I guess not.

Thanks

Zone enable is on the "Radiowide" page. Only later Spectras are zone capable.

If you hold down "HOME" it'll beep and start flashing the display.. on the keypad you dial in the mode number you want and then hit home again. Presto Chango... the mode has changed.

Jaymz, I found out that on some spectras that will not work on. My Astro wouldn't do it either. I had to manually set it through the RSS. I also found out that you don't get the full service menu with the Astros as you do the spectras.

That is odd. Any A7, A9, W7, W9 Spectra I have encountered can do that no trouble. I'm not sure if it's something that is set in the software or not but I was always under the impression that it could do that out of the box.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Not a problem, glad it worked.

Y'know that little feature is not listed in the 2 user manuals I have here. You would think they would if it was a standard feature. Just for laughs I'm looking at the service manuals as well....
