Is an MTX838 Type II capable?

Post by kc2dla »

Model Number H01UCH6DB7AN

Ok, so I can tell that it is 806-870, Privacy Plus, and 'Dual-mode' trunking (whatever that is). Here are my questions:

1) Can it do Type II, IIi?

2) How many modes or talkgroups is is capable of? 255 like a B7 MTX8000?

Thanks, Paul

To answer your question, yes MTX838 do TypeII/IIi. TG capacity is limited to 160 mode unless hacked by Lab ... but ...

The model# you listed is for a full keypad (B7) MTX8000. MTX838's model# are H01UCD6DB4AN.

Actually, the model number you gave here is for an MTX "B4", top display, 99 mode. There are MTX838 B3's, 4's, 5's & B7's.

From what I understand, the 838 designation is for Canada.

Dual mode

It has MPT and 250 conventional channels with conventional voting and limited 5 tone.
The dual mode trunking is only avaible on the mts2000 / MCS2000.

Note: A dual mode radio does not surport MDC / Smartnet /Smart zone
