iDEN Hard Wire Kit for i90c

Post by Sig20JLB »

I'm going to be installed a hardwire kit for an iDEN i90c in a 2003 Taurus. Any tips/comments/do's/don'ts????

Specifically, I'd like to know if anyway has made an extension for the PTT switch and/or microphone in case it's not long enough. I also plan on using one of those pre-made metal plates attach to the radio cover screws so no direct drilling into the car in needed.

Thanks to all in advance!

Hey Have a question for you about that Hard kit, I was gonna get one myself too, but I have bigger battery and not the slim one, so am not sure if those Craddel are even able to hold that extended battery on the back or only accept slim

I think they will - though I'm not sure. I have the standard battery on my phone.

The kit is easy as pie to install, and you can even hook up your favorite Motorola Microphone (with maxtrac connector) to use with direct connect.

I'm going to be re-wiring soon to install my nice new console as soon as I get 2 more parts for it, so we'll see how it all fits in :)

Microphone and Battery

Post by Sig20JLB »

"Alex" and "Dale",

Good point on the slim or hi-cap battery. I got to look at a new kit from my local nextel dealer before I ordered off one eBay (1/2 the price, new in box) and I didn't even think to check on that. Regarding the microphone, I thought about using the Maxtrac mic for ease of use, and I'm sure I could find the wiring info, but I'm trying not to make the vehicle look too much like a police unit.

I'll let you all know what happens.

My I95 will NOT fit in the car kit with the extended battery....... It is the 1400mah battery..

Mic Extension Cable

Post by mike38015 »

You can use a handset cable from an old motorola anaolog installed cell phone (the one from the rf unit in the trunk that the phone handset plugs into) for a mic extension cable from the hard install kit. It even comes equipped for under dash mounting and works great.
