HT1250 Wireless speaker mic

I just saw the wireless Speaker mics for the HT1250 radios. Has anyone tried one of these? Are they any good? What kind of radiation exposure will I get from this wireless system.

I've seen them before, only really played @ dayton. They work quite well, just don't loose the Mic head. I think they are bluetooth devices. The problem I have with them is that they are battery based, so I think that once the battery goes - your done. I'm not 100% sure. You also have to keep the battery's in the mic nice and fresh as well.

I look at it this way - it's just another point of failure in the waris line of radios - which barely works at times as it is.

Had a salesmen trying to sell me one of these. Did not get to play with it much though. He stated that the radio could be left in a vehicle and the wireless mic could be carried on your person. Not sure of the range with that. Kinda worked like the old PAC system. Radio could be set up on a VRS unit. Or something like that.

I just traded my Bluetooth wireless mic kit. I had this for about four months, and it works great...just not for my line of work. I'm a reserve police officer, and the first night I used it...the mic unsynced from the radio and I had no mic use. I was on a fight in progress call, and wasn't able to ask for help. Other than the issue with each time the radio is powered off, the mic powers off as well...it's really a cool product. Once you turn the radio on, the mic has to be keyed up in order to power on...then it takes a few seconds to search for the radio adapter and sync. With fresh batteries I could leave the walkie on a table....walk behind two cement block walls....about 25ft, and still had perfect signal to transmit and receive. Great product, slightly expensive, and save up on batteries.

They do make the kit for both handheld waris series and the CDM series mobiles. I have also played with the mobile version....works almost the same as the handheld.

I used one for several months and liked it a lot. I used rechargeable NIMH AA batteries, which I rotated each day. Worked great in my home where I did not have coverage from my favorite repeater down stairs but good coverage up stairs.

I sold it when I upgraded to the HT1550, which was not compatible with the unit. I kind of miss it actually.

If they add channel selection like in the XTS “Commander” remote mic I would go back to a HT1250 to use that bad boy!

Don’t forget if you lose power in the mic you can always use the mic and PTT on the radio

I have seen this demo'ed along with other stuff like when you go into movie theatres and public places puts your pager in silent mode...Was very interesting when I seen it, but I never heard anything after then.

dude,

we had one in the demo fleet. i played with it. i think it is a giant piece of $hit. the battery is heavier, the mic itself has batteries that fail often. the damn thing loses the radio on occasion. you have to wait a min or two for the dang thing just to sync up w/ the radio... i just dont see the point. a regular old wired speaker mic works fine for me!

Anybody have a link on where to look at these thing or maybe order them. I like the idea ofthe unit for the mobile radio. Also, just curious if the one for the CDM is available with channel selection.

I borrowed one to try not to long ago and I wasnt impressed. I will stick with regular mic for now.

I've seen them on eBay in recent months, I believe around 160 bucks or so. Yep, they're bluetooth, and as such, limited to 30ft range.
Look a little bulky, and in public safety, I would not feel comfortable with it, but at the same time, Ima gadgetfreek, so who knows.
