Vocoder board switch help?

Post by MotoTech »

I have recieved a Vocoder for a xts3000 (out of a 800radio) with a newer hst/dsp, 7.3/7.5 something. I want to know if i can put this into a xts3000 uhf range 2? I have a older xts3000 uhf with the bad 5.51/6.4 host dsp. And want to do a swap. any ideas what has to be done?

If you install a vocoder from a 800MHz radio into one of another bad, you'll run into the infamouse FAIL 001 scenario. This is because the codeplug resides on a EEPROM on the vocoder. So the radio thinks it is a 800, when it really is a UHF and the synth cannot be locked on the freqs. specified in the personality info in the codeplug.

What you need to do is either switch it with a vocoder of a matching band/model, or blast the correct codeplug in the new vocoder. People on this forum may be able to help.
