MT2000 & QCII

Post by ptemt »

I am trying to program an MT2000 with quick call II. Here are the specifics:

A tone: 672.0
B tone: 294.7
C tone: 1082.0

A-B/A-C decode format.

Here is the problem. The radio works fine when decoding the A-C format, but will not trigger on the A-B format when dispatched by our county comm center. I have used an HT-1250 to transmit the tones, and it works fine with that. I am assuming that the county's tones are a hair off and that is why the radio won't decode the tones.

Is there anything in the RSS that would allow for more a a deviation in decoding the tones, or is it a matter of just playing around with tones and taking them up or done a few tenths of a Hz to try and get it right?

Any help is always appreiciated. Thanks in advance.

I have found many systems using tones approx or less than 300Hz can have problems with certain radios. It can be due to the transmitting radio itself having problems with the lower frequencies, or the remote linking equipment (leased line, microwave, etc) having trouble with it. The tone usually ends up being either low deviation, or distorted, or both. I have a feeling that may be what's happening in your case. Without seeing the transmitter output with a service monitor, it's hard to say. It's also possible that the tone is slightly off frequency as you suggest. Pagers such as the Minitor II have a much wider tolerance to all of the above in comparison to newer radios.

Todd,
Thanks for info. What would be the best course of action to get the the quick call II to work. Should I try entering the tone a little above or below the 294.7? Or will that not work? Thanks for any help.
